N7W

Yesterday, I read an article about an ongoing call for choosing the new 7 wonders of the world. Out of the first 7 wonders of the world (or 7 wonders of the ancient world), only the Great Pyramid of Giza survives. All others were destroyed either by human hands or natural reasons.

I have not personally been to the 21 short-listed places but if I had to choose, these are the ones I would vote for:

  1. Acropolis of Athens
  2. Colosseum (believe me when I say that the cries of the people who died there still echoes in the empty ruins)
  3. Great Wall
  4. Kremlin, Red Square, and Saint Basil's Cathedral
  5. Machu Picchu
  6. Petra
  7. Taj Mahal

The Great Pyramid of Giza is included in the 21 finalists but it has since been regarded as an honorary New7Wonders candidate and has been taken out from the voting.

By the way, I love Paris and what better to signify this city than the Eiffel Tower? But no matter how I love this city and how pretty the lighted Eiffel Tower is, I still stand with my choices of 7 new wonders.

To view a complete list of the 21 finalists for the New Seven Wonders of the World, click here. The same list is in the voting site but I find the wikipedia version a bit easier to identify with so I included the link above.
